Circus of Wonders at Winter Gardens

Show Description
Circus of Wonders is a unique and imaginative journey of discovery through circus and sideshows that will appeal to all - from the entertainment enthusiast to the circus historian.
Antique and modern costumes, props, photos and pictures will be on display provided by national circus families and from national archives. Booths will tell the history of circus alongside full size models and statues of unusual and past performers, such as the tattooed Ohmi.
Five restored and working sideshows will premier during Circus of Wonders demonstrating the popular themes used by showmen to titillate and excite the public in 1950s and 1960s amusement parks, seaside resorts and travelling fairs. The Headless Lady, The Mummy, The Girl in the Goldfish Bowl, Electra and The Living Half Lady, including a display of photographs showing them in operation, will be included. The Mummy has not been seen since going into storage in the late 1950s. On the Saturday and Sundays of the festival, these sideshows will be presented as live working shows, not just display exhibits.
Circus of Wonders will have you captivated and enthralled as it takes you on a unique journey through the world of circus and sideshows
